2023, Catering from private aviation, mixed media, print on cocktail napkins
opening performance
A canape perhaps? Belia Brückner's work 10 % examines the social, cultural and political function of a shared meal. Having food together means also sharing experiences and memories, cultivating social relationships. Sometimes decisions are made or new political and business contacts are forged.
The exhibition opening took place at the same time as the internationally renowned IAA Mobility fair, which is held annually in Munich. On this occasion, selected hors d'oeuvres were offered, which are usually enjoyed in a private jet from Munich to Zurich, Zurich, and Monaco. Exhibition visitors enjoyed an exquisite selection of catering from the world of private aviation. Two golden airplanes, each transporting a yacht, decorated the specially designed napkin.
The 10% title refers to the recent CARBON INEQUALITY study, which estimates that the top 10% of the world's richest households consume around 75% of all energy-related to air travel.
